Championship Lead Extends at the Silverstone 500
The Silverstone 500, one of the most highly anticipated races on the British GT Calendar! The crowds flooded in from across the country as the weekend began with an unexpected twist: dry weather for qualifying - a rarity at Silverstone.
The Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo performed exceptionally well, paired with Mikey and Jamie’s ability to get the most out of the car, they were able to secure a solid P3 starting position after a strong qualifying session.
However, the clear skies were short-lived. By race day, rain had returned, and the morning kicked off with a very wet start. As the race commenced, a Full-Course Yellow quickly came into play, leading to a flurry of pit stops. This strategy shift put Mikey in the driver's seat of the Aston Martin for his first stint. With penalties impacting other competitors, Mikey seized the opportunity to gain positions, pushing the #7 car further up the leaderboard. As the laps unfolded, the teams skill and strategy paid off, allowing the #7 car to cross the finish line in an impressive P2 - both in their class and overall - while also securing the fastest lap of the race.
This strong result has extended their lead in the Silver class Championship standings, setting a confident tone as Mikey prepares for the next race. With two races down and five to go, the team now looks ahead to Donington Park, where another intense 3-hour endurance race awaits. The championship now continues with this positive momentum that is growing stronger by each race!
